“Hobbisme als staatsvorm, technologie werkt” is een utopisch scenario dat door DesignArbeid is ontwikkeld om richting te geven aan het denken over de toekomst. In de audiovisuele presentatie wordt teruggekeken vanuit het jaar 2095. Er wordt een toekomst gevisualiseerd waarin technologische ontwikkelingen een constructieve rol spelen en waarin mensen hun directe leefomgeving in eigen hand nemen. Het biedt onder andere een alternatieve kijk op technologische innovaties, radicale transparantie, democratische ontwikkelingen en de toekomst van het onderwijssysteem. Het biedt een constructief antwoord op toekomstscenario’s, waarin massa werkloosheid, radicale digitale transparantie, democratische desinteresse en virtuele verslavingen als doembeelden worden gepresenteerd.

Het scenario is gepresenteerd tijdens TEDxUtrecht 2016, de Nacht van de Kunst en Wetenschap (Groningen 2014). Tevens is het gepubliceerd in De Helling #3 (herfst 2014), het wetenschappelijk tijdschrift van GroenLinks.

“Hobbyism as a governing principle, technology works” is a visual manifesto developed by DesignArbeid to guide (our) thinking about the future. In this presentation (of 18 minutes and 40 images) we anticipate the year 2050. DesignArbeid visualizes a future in which technological developments play a constructive rol and people take control of their immediate environment. This presentation offers an alternative view on technological innovations, radical transparancy, democratic developments and the future of our/the educational system.
